Healthcare Physio & Therapy

Physiotherapy – £47.50

An NHS funded qualification and the most famous title of all of the health care professionals. Physiotherapy specialises in the treatment and rehabilitation of pathologies presenting within hospitals. Therefore the training is less sports specific (unless further study has been completed post graduate). Physiotherapists are less likely to spend time on contact treatments such as soft tissue work, moreover prescribe exercise and use modalities such as Ultrasound and Electrotherapy. A good sports Physiotherapist is worth their weight in gold and hard to beat, but very few specialise in sports specific injuries. At Physio & Therapy all out Physiotherapists are fully qualified in sports related treatments in addition to their original Physiotherapy degree.

Sports Rehabilitation – £47.50

Sports rehabilitation is as it sounds the method of determining the cause of the injury, the site of pain, the secondary factors/pain and treating the body as a whole. If someone presents with a shoulder injury it is not always the right plan just to treat the shoulder, it could be caused by several factors from the spine, hip or even the foot. The sports rehabilitator provides a full kinetic chain through the body, not only treating the site of the pain but also the cause and thus a long time solution to the problem is found. Sports rehabilitation combines physiotherapy and sports massage to optimise results. This is a sports specific qualification and as such each injury has been studied in great detail. The rehabilitation exercises are hard to beat and at Physio & Therapy we pride ourselves in providing the most up to date programmes available.

Osteopathy – £47.50

Osteopathy is a way of detecting and treating damaged parts of the body such as muscles, ligaments, nerves and joints. When the body is balanced and efficient, just like a well tuned engine, it will function with the minimum of wear and tear, leaving more energy for living.

Chiropractic – referral basis only

Chiropractic is a complementary and alternative medicine health care profession that focuses on diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the effects of these disorders on the functions of the nervous system and general health. It emphasizes manual therapy including spinal adjustment and other joint and soft-tissue manipulation.[1] Traditionally, it is based on the premise that a vertebral subluxation or spinal joint dysfunction can interfere with the nervous system and result in many different conditions of diminished health. Today, this alternative form of therapy examines the relationship between structure and function and its impact on neurological mechanisms in both health and disease.

Sports massage – £47.50

A deep tissue massage that can be at times tender due to the therapist needing to massage through the superficial tissue into the underlying cause of the pain or tension.

Imagine an analogy with hair, an athlete comes to us with muscles that at their worst are like a dreadlock, all tangled and tightly bound together, but when they leave they are like the final scene from hair shampoo advert, each strand separate and functioning perfectly and in great condition.

Sports massage can both maintain and develop your bodies performance. Imagine a car that was never serviced or given an M.O.T. it would soon start breaking down. The body is very similar, we decide to work it harder, put it under greater strain through exercise or a change in job and yet we give the same minimal support or servicing. A GOOD sports massage (and these are hard to find) is often the answer to optimising performance and remaining injury free.

Podiatry – referral basis only

Podiatry, podiatric medicine or chiropody is a field of healthcare devoted to the study and treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle, and the knee, leg and hip (collectively known as the lower extremity). The range of disorders podiatry can address largely depends on the scope of practice laid down in national, state, and/or provincial jurisdiction.

Biomechanics – £290.00

Biomechanics is the assessment of the body in movement to see for mechanical disorders. Often treated through shoe inserts moulded to your feet and aimed at bringing your bodies centre of mass into a central location to prevent muscle imbalance and torsion throughout the bodies main areas of adjustment, such as ankle, hip, knee and spine.

A full 90 minute assessment of the body will provide you with a full report on each muscle group within the body, The resultant effect on your posture and muscular/skeletal system will provide a result for even the most stubborn of chronis injuries.
